COFFER

Connector

How do you map and level vendor quotes from Claude?

Connect Coffer to Claude at https://mcp.coffer.build/mcp, attach your material list and up to 3 vendor quote PDFs, and ask Claude to map the quotes with Coffer. Coffer matches each quote line to a row of your list, levels the vendors in one table, flags the rows to check, and returns Excel and CSV. Your estimator confirms each match and price before carrying it.

What does the Coffer connector do for an estimator?

It turns a stack of vendor quotes into one leveled table, at your quantities and in your units.

  • Reads each supplier quote PDF: pipe, valves, fittings, waterworks, precast, electrical and other materials.
  • Matches every quote line to a row of your material list or bid sheet.
  • Levels the vendors in one table: each vendor's unit price and extended price on each row, the low quote on each row, and each vendor's quote total with freight and other charges.
  • Flags the rows to check: a unit converted (joints, coils, rolls), a vendor quantity short or over, quote math that does not add up, conflicting prices, a missing unit price, or a match Coffer is not sure of.
  • Keeps gaps visible: rows a vendor did not quote, and quote lines that are not on your list.
  • Shows the quote page and item behind each price. The Excel workbook lists every quote line with its page, so you can check any number against the PDF.
  • Returns Excel and CSV downloads and a job page you can open in a browser.

Coffer proposes the matches. Your estimator confirms each match and price before carrying it.

How do you connect it?

Find Coffer in Claude's connector directory, or add it by URL. Coffer asks for no account and no sign-in.

  1. In Claude, open Customize, then Connectors.
  2. Search the directory for Coffer and connect it. If Coffer is not listed for you, choose Add custom connector, name it Coffer, and paste https://mcp.coffer.build/mcp.
  3. In a chat, attach your material list and the vendor quotes, and ask Claude to map them with Coffer.

In Claude Code, or any app or agent that supports remote MCP servers, add the same URL as a Streamable HTTP server with no authentication:

claude mcp add --transport http coffer https://mcp.coffer.build/mcp

Coffer is not in ChatGPT's app directory today. Without a connector, open map.coffer.build in a browser and drop the same files.

What do you ask Claude?

Ask in your own words, and name Coffer when you want Coffer to do the mapping. Without the name, Claude may compare the quotes with its own code.

  • “Use Coffer to map these vendor quotes to my material list and show me who is low on each row.”
  • “Level these three pipe and fittings quotes against my bid sheet with Coffer.”
  • “Map this waterworks quote to my material list with Coffer and flag anything I should check.”
  • “Run these supplier quotes through Coffer and give me the leveled table as Excel.”
  • “Which rows of my material list did each vendor leave out? Check the attached quotes with Coffer.”

Which tools does the connector give Claude?

Six tools. One only reads. The others open or answer a mapping job, send an email code, or send a setup request that you asked for.

ToolWhat it doesWhat it changes
map_vendor_quotesOpens a mapping job with your material list and up to 3 vendor quote PDFs, from files attached in the chat, public links, or an upload box shown in the chat, and starts mapping.Creates a job
start_quote_mappingStarts a job after an agent uploaded the files itself.Starts the job
get_quote_mappingReads a job: progress, then the leveled table, the flags, quote lines not on your list, and the download links.Nothing (read-only)
confirm_material_listGives Coffer your answer when it cannot tell which rows and columns of your list hold the materials.Updates the job
verify_emailSends a 6-digit code to your work email, then checks the code, so you can map free quotes 2 and 3.Sends you an email
request_coffer_setupSends your name, work email, company and message to Coffer when you ask Coffer to set up quote mapping for your company.Sends your details to Coffer

What happens to your files?

Coffer keeps your files and the result for 90 days to improve how Coffer reads quotes, then deletes them. Coffer never shares or sells your files.

  • The connector gets only the files and words that Claude sends to its tools. It does not read your other chats or files.
  • Each job has its own link with a long random ID. Anyone who has that link can open the job, so share it only with people who should see the quotes.
  • The reading uses OpenAI models through the Vercel AI Gateway, with request storage turned off, and the Jev sheet reader from Typesafe for the material list. These providers do not train on your files.
  • To delete a job now, email declan@coffer.build with the job link.

The full policy is on Privacy, terms and security.

How much is free?

3 quotes per person. The first quote needs nothing. Quotes 2 and 3 need a work email and the 6-digit code Coffer sends to it.

  • A job holds 1 material list and up to 3 quotes.
  • Coffer may pause free mapping for the day when it reaches its daily capacity.
  • The free connector does not remember your vendors between jobs. Coffer's managed service maps every quote on every bid in your own bid sheet and keeps each vendor's confirmed matches for the next quote from that vendor. Ask Claude to send your details to Coffer, or email declan@coffer.build.

What if something goes wrong?

Coffer's reply in the chat gives the next step. If a problem repeats, email declan@coffer.build with the job link.

  • No upload box in the chat.Open the job link from Coffer's reply and drop the files in a browser.
  • Coffer asks about your material list. It could not tell which rows and columns hold the materials. Answer in the chat, and Claude passes your answer to Coffer.
  • A quote waits for an email code.Give Claude your work email, then the 6-digit code from Coffer's email.
  • The result is not ready. Mapping takes 2 to 6 minutes for each quote. Ask Claude to check the job again.
  • Free mapping is at capacity today. Try again tomorrow.
  • A file is refused. Send quotes as PDF and the material list as Excel (.xlsx or .xls) or CSV.
